Stage Fright

"Stage fright is a feeling of fear or nervousness that some people have just before they appear in front of an audience."

Recent thoughts and feelings surrounding being a performer and anxiety disorder......
I have had some thoughts over the last few days about what is our normal level of anxiety as a performer. We know that as a dancer, singer or actor we will come under pressure, this is in some ways expected and through training are prepared for. STAGE FRIGHT many of us have experienced this, but what is the normal level of anxiety and should we be exposed to this feeling on such a regular basis?
As I look into starting my inquiry interviews I am now seeing that the answers to these questions will aid my learning further in this topic.
Through my training I have seen people be frozen by the amount of anxiety they are feeling, this in turn effects their ability to continue performing, is there a way that this could have been prevented? and could the performer have gotten the support that they needed for this if necessary?
Not only will I be gathering information from my participants, I will be looking at what scholars are saying now and try to draw up different ethical considerations between the two.
Although not many auditions are taking place at the moment I have also started looking into how that experience could affect us as performers. We tend to wait around for hours to be seen in the audition room, then we get a "number" ( how does being identified as a number have an impact on us mentally?) following this you may get through a few rounds but each round some performers will be "cut" (how do you prepare yourself for that feeling and will every individual always be able to deal with this feeling on a regular basis?)  In the later stages of an audition you maybe asked to stand with people of similar height or hair colour ( being looked at as possibly more of a product rather than a person). Then you may have made it to the final stage of an audition but not hear back for weeks and weeks to have a yes, and in some companies you will never hear back at all. Should this be normal practice? and in what way could we help performers as a continuation from not getting the job?
Looking into other performers views on this will give me a better insight into how I feel and my own personal experience in this along side possible different views that I may never have even considered. I look forward to moving forward with this proposal.
